Gum Disease (Periodontal)

Gum Disease

The most common cause of tooth loss is gum disease and gum disease is very common! Signs include bleeding from your gums, loose teeth and bad breath.
Your dentist will screen your gums at every “check up” and if you exhibit signs of gum disease this will be discussed with you.

We have informative leaflets available to help you understand how we treat gum disease.

Normally treatment to stabilise your gum health will be performed by a hygienist.

Patients with moderate to severe gum problems can benefit from seeing the hygienist on a private basis. This allows extended appointment times and for appointment frequency to be tailored to your individual needs for enhanced delivery of care.

Your dentist or hygienist will advise you if he/she thinks you would benefit from Private Hygiene Treatment.

Paying for Private Hygiene Treatment.

Many patients who see the hygienist for private care pay each time they attend. The fee paid is based on the length of the appointment as itemised on the Private Fees tab.

We do also offer a payment plan through Denplan, the UK’s largest provider of Dental Care Plans. This allows patients to spread the cost of Private Hygiene Treatment using monthly Direct Debits. Our staff are happy to provide more information on this if you are interested.
