IMPORTANT INFORMATION-PLEASE SHARE

Today the Chief Dental Officer of Scotland has issued new guidance for dental practices as a result of the current COVID-19 Pandemic.

Commencing from tomorrow, the 18th of March, ALL Scottish dental practices have been advised to drastically reduce the services offered, greatly reducing the amount of patients we are able to see and treat!

We have been instructed that we are NOT allowed to use any dental equipment which creates an aerosol (most of our drills and ultrasonic scaling devices) except in the treatment of a SEVERE dental emergency, and only then if we have the appropriate personal protection equipment. This means that many of our routine treatments cannot be carried out.

As per government guidance we will also have to cancel all appointments for;

-Those patients who are over 70 years of age, regardless of health status.

-Those patients who are deemed vulnerable eg with a long term health condition who are advised to have the seasonal flu jab or that have a weakened immune system

-Those patients who are pregnant

We will be open as usual to treat patients who do not fall into the above categories for toothaches, broken fillings (although you will likely only get a temporary restoration), routine extractions, all denture work, scaling and polishing (although this will be by hand scale only) and check ups. This is on the proviso that that do not have any symptoms of the Corona Virus.

Patients who fall into one of the above categories can be seen for Pain.

If you have upcoming appointments and would like to seek clarification please call the practice on 01356 623156 or email [email protected] Please be advised that we expect the phone lines to be very busy; kindly only attend the practice if you have a pre arranged appointment that has NOT been cancelled.

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes but as we are sure you are fully aware the situation is completely out of our hands. We will aim to update this Facebook page regularly as we are informed of changes.
